I'm 14 years Old (not really...)
Yes it is possible to play paintball in New Zealand. And yes it is possible that I’m still 16 years old. Although I’m 20. But sometimes it doesn’t feel like it. I don’t think I’ve ever actually FELT my age as it actually is. If I ever do, it’s the day before my birthday and i get all messed up again. I think when people ask me how old i am i still say 18. ...
Ms. Hendrix
There are very few niches left in popular music that would be considered original. I might, for example, mix hip-hop with 80’s hair metal and ska if i wanted to try something new…but it most likely wouldn’t do so well. (I might argue that mixing ska with anything would produce questionable results…) But one niche that has not been explored at all, and one that i think...
The Horizon has been defeated
Predicting the weather in New Zealand is futile. Maybe that’s why most of the weather coverage here is titled “Yesterday’s Weather.” They don’t even bother with the future. I think this is a good idea, considering the weather yesterday involved intermittent periods of haill, then full sun, then rain, then severe cold, then a heat wave, snow, and I’m pretty...
Top 3 Concerts Ever
So my mom and I are off to the Milford Sound this weekend, supposed to be the “Eiffel Tower” of New Zealand. I am very excited and will definitely be bringing my video camera. I’ve been making little 10min movies about most all of my adventures to be eventually compiled into one DVD. Which will make much easier to tell people about what things looked like etc. OK flash back...
Dear Alex in the Future...
So I’ve seen some interesting things in the past 20 mintues. One being, that ducks sleep with their heads backwards. I think that’s awesome, not to mention a bit odd looking. If you have never seen it, try to find a duck…asleep. Also, i read an interesting article about time travel. I think I, like most people, believe that time travel would be pretty cool if it were...
Music for a Minute
Let’s talk music for a second here. So in NZ i’ve been getting a few gigs, mostly at small cafe/bar places. It’s been pretty great actually, despite the fact that most every pub in the area only wants to hire you if you are a DJ or a cover band. The funny thing about that, is all the covers are always American songs cause that seems to be what people want to hear. I thought...
Blog is a silly word
So my last few attempts at cooking for the five people that live in my house have been rather misrable. Here’s the thing, i could easily make something simple like beans and pasta every night…but where’s the fun in that? (and perhaps not the most nutritionaly viable option) so i try to make all sorts of different things, most of which end up tasting, well, let’s just say...
Boring = Exciting
It seems that my present self is attempting to screw over my future self. I say this because of some of the decisions i make. Not decisions like doing herione and then trying to fly an airplane or anything, slightly more subdued things. Like for example, I have a paper due on friday. Today is wednesday and i could begin it now and have a nice three days to complete it. Or i could wait until...
First time for everything
Hmm it seems that i have decided to start a bloggy thing, much to the dismay of my past self that once also rejected things like thefacebook.com and Instant Messanger. anyway who cares. here i am in new zealand! i have been here now for about 2 monthes now, studying at the UNiveristy of Otago. it is rather awesome here, adventures abound and no week is the same. then again, no week is ever...
