ILoveshoes
I hate breaking guitar strings. Then again, there aren’t many things I like breaking. I’ve never broken a truce before, that could be fun, but only if it involved water balloons. I had a really great day today, just one of those perfect days. My favorite part of the morning was spent in a sweltering cafe in the east village reading a book by British graffiti artist Banksy. ...

Red Suitcase Full of Clothes
We played a place called Sin-é last night on the lower east side and it went really well. It was definitely our best NYC show so far (we have had two…). Anyway, we were able to get it recorded live as well, so now we, along with Jeff Buckley, have an album recorded live at Sin-é. We were pretty pumped about that, I’ll post pictures once I get them. I’m trying a new experiment...

What's you power move?
I think I have transitioned into the “disillusioned New Yorker” phase. I don’t know if this is a real phase… but I have noticed it in some people I know that live here. Basically, the symptoms are that I have kind of gotten used to living here, so much so that I no longer take advantage of it as much as I did at first. Part of this is because the excitement of being here...

Double-Thank-You
OK so I’m sick. I don’t know what people are talking about when they say they get colds for only two or three days. When I get one, it lasts a week, minimum. I think it’s more that people have different qualifications for what is a cold and what isn’t. When I say I have a cold, I have a cold. Sore throat, stuffy-ness, ears being all crazy, lethargic-ness, sneezes all...

Let's Throw A Search Party
So some random things… Did you know that Coldplay’s name was originally thought of by the piano player for Keane? What!!? I think that’s a crazy thing, almost as crazy as the fact that Coldplay’s original name was “Starfish.” I always thought it would be fun to be an individual performer but go as a “band name” instead of just your normal name. ...

Italy winning the World Cup is the best thing to happen today. I was devastated in ‘94 when they lost to Brazil, when I was really into soccer and loooved the Italian team. So, nicely book-ending that little sentiment was today’s match. Too bad Nadal couldn’t have beat Federer :-( Last night was awesome. We went to Marquee and got a table, which is an experience worth...

We Were Young and it Was Summer
Despite my somewhat unfounded aversion to theater, I have decided that this summer shall unfold like a play. As I posted about before, Act I has already happened and I have moved into Act II. At that time, I wasn’t sure how many Acts there were going to be, now it seems like it’s definitely going to be a 3 act play. As of a few days ago Act II has ended. I think the reasoning for...

Rant and Rave
July 4th. Overall, I’d say that D.C can rock a firework show better than anywhere else in the world. NYC loses out because of A) no ‘grand’ finale and B) too short. It was pretty awesome none the less, they seem to really have perfected the 3D firework. It’s also worth noting that after the show was probably the hungriest I have ever been.* Also worth mentioning: I...

Who Do? You Do. The power of Voodoo?
Awesome night last night. We made it into some super-crowded-expensive-clubs by pretending to be working for PR firms, it was hilarious. It’s crazy how far a little confidence will get you in NYC. Anyway, it’s already almost over! Time is going by faster than I eat a bowl of cereal. (pretty darn fast). I also got a chance to head out of the city for the first time last weekend...
