Milano
We are in Milan! You would be correct to assume that things are very different here than they were in the lake district. There is no swimming. There is shopping. I am not much of a shopper, but I do enjoy walking around aimlessly and looking at things. Today my mom, sister and I went our separate ways and each got our own variety of lost in Milan. I ventured to the outskirts (by accident) and...

Last Day on Lake Como
Another day on Lake Como today. Tomorrow we head to Milan for the last three days of our trip. Any design related suggestions for Milan?
Flickr Page
All of the photos from Italy, above and below, can be found here. You can download (slightly) bigger sizes of the pics if you so desire. If you would like a full quality/size version of one of the pictures, just drop me a line. alex [at] alexcornell.com
By the way, the water slide at the top of this post is probably the coolest water slide in existence (in that it slides into Lake Como). We...
Random Assortment
A few random pics up to this point in the trip. We’re here for another week about so there will be more to come for sure.
Como Lake
Today was our first full day in Bellagio. We spent most of it by the pool, looking at the sun, and reading “airport” novels. The lake is exceptionally freezing but it’s easy to forget that when it’s as beautiful as it is. The mountains surrounding it make it feel like we are constantly in some sort of movie (either an old Bond, or Planet Earth). The Bond thing is...
Behance Feature
My hypothetical Wes Anderson Film Festival is featured on the front page of Behance today. Looks like a pool day in Italy today…
Como Momo Lomo
Just arrived in Como! I guess we passed through Como actually, now we are in Bellagio. Our hotel is the best thing that ever happened. It’s perfectly placed, right on the edge of the lake, and has the best view we could hope for. Today was mostly a driving day, but we were able to stop in Bevano to visit the three islands on Lago Maggiore. We only made it to two, but they were very...
Hot Hot Heat
Oh my it’s hot in my room. 32 degrees celsius if that means anything to you. My general rule of thumb is that anything over 30 = hot. I may not know the exact fahrenheit conversion, but I know it means I should be wearing shorts and drinking a Capri Sun.
Today we went to the top of the nearest peak and observed Orta from above. The “peak” was thankfully only about a 30 min...
The Stay Awake Texture Plan
So it’s 8:15pm here and I am finally going to go to bed. I have been awake for way too long and have almost fallen asleep in some weird places. I was determined to make it until the sun dipped behind the mountains, which it just did, and I had to find some things to do in the mean time. The main excursion was a photographic one to find lots of cool color combos and wall textures. Above you...
Italy Arrival x Lago d'Orta
After some fairly excellent Lufthansa flights, we have arrived in Italy and plopped down along side Lago d’Orta. The above picture is the view from the room (what!). We are all sleep deprived and hungry, but were able to do a little scouting mission into the town before crashing. We found a multitude of shops, restaurants and little side streets to keep us busy. For now, it’s shower...
Italy
I will be in Italy for the next two weeks. Like my trip to Tokyo last summer, I am planning on taking lots of pictures and blogging all the cool stuffs I see and do. Should finish the air travel portion of the journey on Thursday, so see you then!
Quotation
My Japanese is fading me these days. I can still read it, but sadly, I have no idea what it means anymore. Either way, great cover for Quotation.
Home Again (as in SF, not Vegas)
Safely returned from that Las Vegas place. Back in SF for one day before heading to…Milan! Lots of plane flights these days…
Vegas
Time to see what all the fuss is about. I’ve never been to Las Vegas before and will be there this weekend for my friend’s bachelor party. Should be crazy; something like 20 people all in one Bellagio Penthouse.
I like saying I’m going to “Las Vegas” because people don’t seem to recognize it with the “Las” in front of the name. “What happens...
Wes Anderson Trailer
I wrote a short process post over on ISO50 about the trailer my friend Phil and I created for my film festival project. Read it here!
A Cross The Universe
Justice is amazing. This we know. Sadly, I have never seen them live, and this documentary makes me feel even worse about this fact. It also reminds me that yes, in fact I do want to become a rock star. Right now, I’m sort of doing 80% design and 20% music. It used to be the other way around, and damn if I don’t turn the tables tomorrow. (At least take things back to 50/50). One...
Vimeo
I had uploaded some videos to Vimeo a while back, but they seem to have disappeared, who knows why. Anyway, I’ve just been playing around with it again today and I can’t believe how much better it is than Youtube. I had tried to upload a version of that trailer I mentioned to Youtube and it looked terrible. I do a lot to optimize the settings for compression, but Youtube squashes...
Color / Trailer
Over the last 24 hours, my friend Phil and I have written, filmed, edited, scripted, and scored a short 2 minute trailer for the hypothetical film festival I am doing for school. I picked up Color today and have been having a BLAST learning the tool for this project. Of course, the finished product needs to be complete tonight, but I’ve been able to learn enough to get by. I’ll post...

Audrey Kawasaki is one of my favorite illustrators. She just posted some new works from her upcoming show in Tokyo.
