Music for a Minute
Let’s talk music for a second here. So in NZ i’ve been getting a few gigs, mostly at small cafe/bar places. It’s been pretty great actually, despite the fact that most every pub in the area only wants to hire you if you are a DJ or a cover band. The funny thing about that, is all the covers are always American songs cause that seems to be what people want to hear. I thought it would be funny if American pubs started requiring you to play only NZ music. (Something tells me that might not happen…) My favorite is when someone covers “Born in the U.S.A”. Anyway, I have a gig coming up on Friday which should be fun. I plan to play songs that I have never played live before, just as a experiment. Songs like “bartender” by Dave and maybe “be yourself” by Audioslave. haha, what a combo that would be. I also have about 4 songs being written at the moment, so hopefully one of those will be done by friday. (unlikely, given my current pace of 8 songs per 20 years…) ALSO. I need my electric guitar, which, is currently about 2 days of travel time away from me. I considered going home for the weekend to get it. I suppose shipping it would make more sense. Seriously though, i need it. 2 more months….i don’t know if i can make it. I may have to buy one here. well we’ll see.
