The Horizon has been defeated

Predicting the weather in New Zealand is futile. Maybe that’s why most of the weather coverage here is titled “Yesterday’s Weather.” They don’t even bother with the future. I think this is a good idea, considering the weather yesterday involved intermittent periods of haill, then full sun, then rain, then severe cold, then a heat wave, snow, and I’m pretty sure i saw a tornado indoors. (may or may not been caused by me dropping the vacuum cleaner…) This, is slightly frustrating when trying to plan for the day. For example, OK it’s raining so I’l bring a umbrella. Oh wait, it’s so windy that I no longer have an umbrella, rather, I have an empty hand and 30minutes of trying to rescue my umbrella from the roof. Of course, this is all relative to the weather at home, which is flat out boring in comparison. It was sunny all day? What? No snow without clouds? (How that is possible i dont know…) I don’t really remember what it was like to hear the weathermen actually try and predict the weather. Here they pretty much just say whatever they want, cause pretty much every variation happens at some point during the day. “It will rain tomorrow….sometime.” Correct! But yeah, the best part about having such dynamic weather is when it works in your favor it is that much more amazing. This weekend my Mom and I went to the Milford Sound and had the best weather I think i have had in my time here. Perfect weather in a perfect place. I forgot that i have a webshots thingy, which can be found at http://community.webshots.com/user/acornlex check it out for the Milford pics (at the end)
