The BEST Party EVER

Here is a funny thing. You know when you ask someone how a party was? Usually, the answer is either A) It was amazing, very fun. or B) Nah it wasn’t that cool. Now, I always assume that whatever this one person says is probably a good indicator of how the party was…when really this couldn’t be farther from the truth. I think we all do this, apply one person’s opinion to be the actual indicator of how good or bad a party (or anything really) was. We mistake their subjective opinion for an objective truth. If you think about how you yourself answer such a question, you will understand how unreliable the answers can be and how pointless it is to ask the question in the first place. If, at the party, I see tons of people I know, dance with lots of people, get a few phone numbers (ok…umm maybe one) etc etc then I will say “Yeah, it was a great party.” But if I don;t know many people etc etc I’ll say “yeah it kind of sucked.” But what I leave out is that it was a great party FOR ME, not a great party in general. The problem is that most people assume that the whole thing must have been great if a few people say it was, when really, it was just great for them. So really the question should be “Did YOU have a good time at the party?” Not “How was the party.”

A minor annoyance I know, but one that frequently comes up
