For good or for awesome?

Apparently a cover letter is a fairly important thing. Something tells me I might need to read up on that before I just start writing. Anyway the karma police definitely nabbed me yesterday…I was just about in the middle ranting about how glad I was I didn’t have to write cover letters to work at some place like GoldmanSacks or Investment Land and then BOOM it becomes apparent that it’s not just internships in Banking Land that require such a technique. Oh nieve Alex, what to do with you.

Either way the exciting part is, is that I’m going to be in NYC this summer from May to August with the Duke program. Working at an internship in the Media Arts (haven’t found anything yet…) and hopefully playing lots of gigs. I’m not sure what I’m going to do with myself up there, the thought of having more than one concert come near me in one year is just too much to handle though I’m sure I’ll figure something out. Also, the excitement level of living in the same city as The Peanut Butter Factory (possibly the best sandwich place ever) is significant.

On a separate note, I’m always wondering why anybody would actually buy a magazine at a newsstand for 5$,(myself included because I do it all the time) when the price to subscribe is just under 2x the cost of one magazine. It seems like a ridiculous move economically to not buy a subscription if you ever plan on buying the magazine again. I guess this is how they make lots o money, cause they know no one wants to fill out that little card. (that doesn’t look like it could survive being mailed anywhere)
