We Were Young and it Was Summer

Despite my somewhat unfounded aversion to theater, I have decided that this summer shall unfold like a play. As I posted about before, Act I has already happened and I have moved into Act II. At that time, I wasn’t sure how many Acts there were going to be, now it seems like it’s definitely going to be a 3 act play. As of a few days ago Act II has ended. I think the reasoning for this was because it was the sort of ‘lull’ before the big finale, a kind of transition period. The first month I was here, was all very fast paced and craazy. Not to say the last few weeks haven’t been crazy, they have, but it’s been more controlled craziness. If the first month was like Gnarls Barkely Crazy, then these last few weeks were more like Van Morrison Crazy.

The somewhat sobering end to Act II was today, at the World Trade Center. There isn’t really much I want to say about what it felt like to go there, but it was certainly chilling. Especially to look up at the empty skyline and see planes flying over, oye. I was very happy to see that there were few, if any, people taking advantage of the tragedy by selling souvenirs and things. There are signs posted that say not to, but usually people don’t listen to signs, so I was glad to see at least in this case they did. I guess it’s been almost 5 years, so I was a bit surprised going there hit me as hard as it did, especially given that I don’t think about it at all anymore. Anyway, it was nice to see all the ways the city has planned to move on, I liked the looks of this Freedom Tower thing they have planned. It was a good experience, one that I wouldn’t necessarily have planned, but I found myself at the correct subway station after falling asleep on the E so there you have it.

Anyway, it then appears as if I’m in Act III as we speak! What does it all mean! Ahh! Anyway, the start of the Act is going to be big, with Running Lights first NYC concert on Friday. Hopefully good things will come of that and Act III can live up to its reputation.

The name of the entire play will be called: “We Were Young and it Was Summer”
It’s also the title of a line of stuffs at Giant Robot, but it’s awesome enough that it will fulfill both titles and not get tired.

On a side note, we got kicked out of a taxi cab yesterday. Yeah.
