Sorry, I confuse D and L
So I’m back from the ultimate music weekend. I felt like I did when I used to watch VH1 in the early 90’s, that is, all fuzzy inside. Anyway, I should have tons of pictures up later today, but that’s all dependent on me not dying from one of the following: lack of sleep, homework, a speeding comet, or a lemur. For now, you can just read some thoughts I had this weekend.
-I should mention, that as of about 1 month ago, I have started keeping a little notebook with me at all times. This is very helpful. Every-time I have a ‘blog-worthy’ thought, I write down a little cue to remind me later when I want to write about it. I bring this up because, what you are getting these days, is not the original thought…but my own interpretation of my own thought that I had earlier that day. So it may make considerably less or more sense, depending.
-I am always worried about posting when I think that the last post I wrote is better than the one I am currently writing. I always like to have the top (and first) post you read be the “ultimate’ post, which strangely enough, causes me to post only about once every day or so. (given the ultimate freedom and time, I would post maybe 4 times a day!) So just know that you are missing some quality stuff. (read: quality = deemed not worthy for blog = not quality)
-Second-hand concert reports are beyond irritating. Saying the following should not be allowed:
1. My friend saw this band, they said they were really good.
2. I heard this band once opening for Dave when I was tailgating in the parking lot, they kind of suck.
3. My friend was at a private concert with him, and says he’s like, totally an asshole.
These statements are ridiculous because A) how do we know you friend has any idea what they are talking about. B) What does “really good live” coming to you second hand, even mean? “really good” might just mean they had a good time at that concert, which doesn’t mean they were listening at all. About 3 million % of the people at ACL talked throughout most of the acts, but felt no regret giving highly detailed accounts of how good or bad the band was live. And just because someone was an “asshole” to you one night after their show is in no way indicative of their actual character. If anything, it tells me more about the person willing to make such an unfounded judgement.
Any,way, the ACL super-post is coming up later tonight. I promise. If not, I’ll buy you an apple. Seriously,we can go to whole foods.
