Typical Situation
Would you rather be invisible or be able to fly? The original “would you rather” question, supposedly referring to the two most desired impossible ‘powers”. Those two are OK I guess, but I want to throw a third into the mix: Being able to remove your “self” from the self-evaulation process. No matter what you do, when you are evaluating a piece of work that you created, it’s impossible to view it completely objectively. What I wouldn’t give to be able to hear a song I wrote from a perspective other than my own. It’s not that I don’t trust my own instincts, it’s just hard to remain unbiased when it’s your own stuff. The solution available to us now, of course, is just to get other people to weigh in on whatever it is. That is, until we get asked that “would you rather” question by someone that can actually grant us the answer.. .
