For the longest time

-Hypothetical-

Imagine someone snuck into your house every day and moved things around just slightly. Imagine that they are able to do this without you detecting them. So for example, maybe you placed your keys on the kitchen table, this person would move them to the kitchen counter. That kind of thing. You have no idea that this person enters your house but you are frequently “misplacing” items despite the fact that you were sure you left them somewhere in particular. Here is the question: How long would it be before you stopped thinking you are just frequently forgetting where you put things and started suspecting that there might actually be someone else moving things around. My guess is never.

I ask because sometimes I am POSITIVE that i put my keys on my desk, only to find that they are next to my shoes. Etc. I always blame myself, because usually it is in fact a product of my own forgetfulness, and I don’t think I would ever think that there was any other explanation. Someone could literally move my shoes to a room I have never entered in my life and I would just assume I forgot. (or sleptwalk?)

To test my hypothesis, I am thinking about trying this out on one of my roommates…hopefully they don’t read my blog :-)
