Music Month - Day 3

Phew! Another day! It’s only been three days but it feels like it’s been at least a week. I guess each day is so compressed and devoid of wasted time that they feel longer. Today went pretty well actually, and definitely better than yesterday. Here is what went down:

10am-12- Running/Gym/Etc - This part of my day has been consistently succesful. I am in such bad cardio shape that it’s pretty painful to shock my system back up to speed. I think I’ll be able to keep this routine up for a while, so I’m looking forward to being healthy again! I guess I miss those high school days where, at the end of each day, I would play soccer, lacrosse, or tennis for hours on end.

1pm-3:30- Songwriting. Despite the fact that today’s writing period was much shorter than scheduled, I still count it as a success. I revisted that “big” chord progression I came up with yesterday and was able to squeeze a verse melody out of it. I am almost happy enough with the way it unfolds musically to start attempting lyrics for it. The one issue I had today was getting a decent chorus. I eventually got so frustrated with it that I had to stop before I went insane. I didn’t want to give up, and end 1.5 hours early like I did, but I had to. Sometimes there just isn’t anything left. And I had already got the verse down so I didn’t want to get greedy.

4pm-6- Working on blog layout, tech underbelly etc. You may notice some asthetic changes here and there on the blog, most are subtle though. The best part of this was I learned how to embed flash players (one of which can be found below in an earlier post) so that will make my music posts much more complete.

6pm-7:30- Dinner tonight was nothing special because I am going out later and didn’t have time to try anything too crazy. I did a simple pasta with some breakfast sausage. Not exactly a smattering of the food pyramid, but that’s what Friday is for.

8pm- Going to see Rhys Darby tonight at Mezzanine for SF Sketch Fest
